Brentford snatch late victory against Nottingham Forest

Brentford staged a remarkable comeback to snatch a crucial victory against Nottingham Forest at Griffin Park. Despite trailing for the majority of the game, the Bees showed incredible resilience and determination to secure all three points and keep their promotion hopes alive.

It was Forest who struck first, with Brazilian midfielder Danilo marking his 22nd birthday with a clinical finish just before half-time. The goal gave Steve Cooper's side a much-needed boost as they looked to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Brentford, however, refused to give up, despite struggling to create clear-cut chances in the first half. Ivan Toney's 82nd-minute free-kick, which deflected off Forest keeper Keylor Navas, breathed new life into the home side's comeback hopes.

With Forest down to 10 men after Danilo's injury, substitute Josh Dasilva then scored the winning goal in stoppage time. The goal was subject to a lengthy VAR check but was eventually confirmed, sparking wild celebrations among the Brentford faithful.

For Forest, the defeat was a bitter blow, especially given their impressive win against Brighton just a few days ago. The result leaves them just one point ahead of third-bottom Leicester, with all their nearest rivals yet to play this weekend.

Cooper will now face the daunting task of rallying his players ahead of their crucial home game against Southampton on 8 May. Forest will need to improve their away form if they are to secure their Premier League survival, and this latest setback will only increase the pressure on the team.

For Brentford, meanwhile, the win was a significant boost in their push for promotion to the top flight. The Bees remain in fourth place, just one point behind third-placed Bournemouth and with a game in hand.

With the season entering its final stages, both teams will be looking to build on this result and secure their respective targets. For Brentford, the dream of Premier League football is within touching distance, while Forest will be hoping to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
