Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe joyfully announces the arrival of his first child!
Actor Daniel Radcliffe, famously known for his role as Harry Potter, and his partner Erin Darke have announced the birth of their first child. The news was confirmed by Radcliffe's publicist after photographs were published by the Daily Mail showing the couple pushing a pram in New York.
The couple, who have been together for a decade, reportedly met on the set of the film Kill Your Darlings in 2013. In March of this year, it was announced that the pair were expecting a baby, but they have not yet revealed the sex of the child or when the birth took place.
Radcliffe rose to fame at the age of 12 when he was cast as the titular character in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He went on to appear in all eight films based on JK Rowling's beloved book series. More recently, he starred in the biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, for which he was nominated for a Bafta.
Last year, the actor expressed his desire for his children, "if and when they exist", to work behind the scenes in the film industry. "I want my kids... to come on to a film set and be like 'God, you know, I'd love to be in the art department. I'd love to be something in the crew.'"
Darke, who was born in Michigan, is best known for her role in the 2015 series Good Girl Revolt, and more recently appeared in Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Radcliffe's Harry Potter co-star, Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the films, also recently became a parent. He has a two-year-old daughter named Wednesday with actor Georgia Groome.
